Speech Central Beta First TTS App to Support New Liquid Glass UI on iOS 26 / macOS 26

UPDATE: after the official iOS 26 launch Liquid Glass design is now available in the regular app in the App Store, no need to use TestFlight for this anymore.
This year’s Apple WWDC 2025 brought groundbreaking announcements that impact iOS 26, macOS 26, and watchOS 26. Apple introduced a major version shift and a unifying design philosophy that will shape the user experience across all platforms.

Version 26: A New Naming Convention

Apple confirmed that starting this year, all operating systems will carry the number 26 in their versioning. This change reflects the year in which the systems will be primarily used, making it easier for users to align OS updates with the calendar year.

Liquid Glass Design Language

The biggest design shift comes with Liquid Glass, Apple’s new system-wide design language. By merging depth, translucency, and fluid motion, Liquid Glass creates a more immersive user experience—especially noticeable on the iPhone. However, older apps will not support Liquid Glass until they receive an update, and developers still have the option to opt-out.

Speech Central Embraces Liquid Glass

Speech Central continues its tradition of being among the first apps to adopt Apple’s newest technologies. The user interface has been fully reimagined with Liquid Glass, not only using Apple’s out-of-the-box controls but also delivering dozens of custom Liquid Glass experiences. This early adoption ensures Speech Central users enjoy the best of the new design language right away.

Roadmap Toward September Release

The Liquid Glass redesign is just the beginning. The team behind Speech Central will continue to add new features and bug fixes in preparation for the public release of iOS 26 and macOS 26 in mid-September. Many of these updates will leverage the powerful capabilities of Apple’s next-generation operating systems.

Text-to-Speech: What’s Missing in iOS 26

While Apple delivered big updates on the design and system front, text-to-speech technology remains unchanged. Apple’s current voices, while still acceptable for many use cases, are starting to feel outdated. Users may have to wait at least one more year for significant improvements in voice quality.
