Speech Central Expands Free Usage for Short Text Listening

The latest updates for Speech Central on iOS and Android introduce an expanded free experience designed for quick text-to-speech usage. With this release, users can listen to very small texts completely free — up to 30 seconds of audio at 1× speed.

This improvement makes Speech Central more useful for everyday situations where users simply want to type or paste a short piece of text and immediately hear it spoken aloud.

Use Speech Central as a Free Instant Text-to-Speech Tool

Together with the recent improvements to Instant Mode, Speech Central can now function as a classic text-to-speech (TTS) app without any cost for short content.

For example, you can:

  • Type a short message or paragraph
  • Listen to it instantly using text-to-speech
  • Enter another short text and listen again

This workflow allows users to repeatedly convert small pieces of text to speech, making Speech Central useful for pronunciation checks, quick listening tasks, accessibility needs, or language learning.

Improved Accessibility Support

The expanded free usage also strengthens Speech Central’s accessibility features. The app already provides free functionality for users who rely on screen readers such as VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android, as well as for managed school environments.

These capabilities remain fully supported, ensuring that users who depend on assistive technologies can continue using Speech Central effectively.

Free Tier for Long-Form Content Still Available

In addition to the new short-text feature, the existing free tier of Speech Central remains unchanged.

New users can use the app completely free during the first day. After that, the free plan still allows regular listening to longer content:

  • One long book import each month
  • Two short articles per day (up to 15 minutes each)

Combined with the new instant short-text listening feature, this makes Speech Central one of the most flexible text-to-speech apps available for both quick listening and longer reading sessions.
